- Vitamin B is used to treat hair loss by its ability to maintain healthy stress levels. Cortisol, the stress hormone, is linked not only to health problems, such as stress-related weight gain, but also hair loss. While vitamin B is available in singular pills, a multivitamin that is enriched in vitamin B is the ideal dosage.
Consume the recommended daily amount of a vitamin B multivitamin twice a day. Take the vitamins with at least eight ounces of water and drink at least 10 eight-ounce containers of water during each day to flush the system and promote vitamin B absorption. - Grape seed extract is cataloged as an effective antioxidant, which aides in promoting hair regrowth. The properties in grape seed extract work to block dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, from accumulating in the hair follicles.
The DHT hormone attaches itself to the hair follicle and begins to weaken hair growth and durability, ultimately resulting in overall/pattern hair loss.
Grape seed extract is available in pill form as well as in oil forms. To ingest grape seed extract take three pure grape seed extract capsules, available in any vitamin store, two times a day with eight ounces of water. Consult a physician before beginning any supplement routine, especially if you have allergies.
To use grape seed extract as a topical application, gently massage 3 tbsp. of grape seed oil directly onto the scalp for 10 minutes. Focus mainly on areas where hair loss is prevalent. Allow the oil to rest for 10 more minutes after massaging in, and rinse with shampoo and conditioner. - Apple cider vinegar is acidic, which effectively dissolves toxins and dirt that clog hair follicles, which can prevent hair growth. Sage is an essential oil, which contains various properties that act as an antiseptic and when combined with apple cider vinegar, sage helps mask its strong vinegar scent.
Mix 2 oz. of apple cider vinegar with 2 oz. of purified water. Stir the mixture to ensure the vinegar and water have properly mixed. Add five drops of sage essential oil to the mixture and stir. Drench the hair in the solution and place a towel over the head for 30 minutes. Rinse the solution out of the hair and repeat every day for a week and then every other day after that. For those with long hair, double the amount of apple cider vinegar, water and sage oil used.

20 Tips For Healthier Hair!
- Avoid overconsumption of salt (most vegetables have their own natural sodium) and sugar; skip them entirely, if possible.
- Same with alcohol and tobacco, also contributing causes of hair loss and dandruff.
- Avoid excessive shampooing--once daily is usually sufficient, using a mild, unmedicated, nonalkaline shampoo (organic ingredients, whenever possible). All bathing or showering strips from your skin the oil which traps water and keeps your skin moist, so avoid harsh soaps, especially those containing deodorant. Also avoid astringents, unless you have oily skin, in which case you can wash/shampoo more often. Those with 'dry' hair may follow shampoos with acid rinses or with oil-based conditioners (again, using organic ingredients whenever possible).
- Try headstands--or any position lowering your head below your body--several times daily (15 minutes each time).
- Massage your scalp by hand, or with an electric vibrator.
- Avoid excessive mental labor, as well as mental stress, both of which reduce scalp circulation by constricting blood vessels. Meditation and mental visualization and relaxation techniques are helpful.
- Because minerals are even more important to healthy hair than proteins, include both in your diet. Nutritional deficiencies can cause hair loss, as well as premature graying. In some cases, a copper deficiency may cause premature graying. Overall, eat a balanced, high-quality diet (organic, whenever possible), and/or supplement with good multi-vitamin, multi-mineral, trace-element and amino acid formulas
- Just as moderate exercise increases bone density and can improve hearing, it also improves blood circulation in your scalp.
- Periodic, scientific juice-fasting removes toxic chemicals built up in your body, especially from chemically-grown foods, the air, the water and drugs used, thus producing healthier hair and preventing premature graying (and aging).
- An ounce (each) of sage and rosemary, left for 24 hours in a pint of good water, provides a tonic for treating dandruff.
- Apple-cider vinegar, applied as a rinse, is another folk remedy for dandruff: heat only slightly, pour on, and let it 'set' for an hour on a towel-draped head, before shampooing.
- Vitamin E, rubbed on the scalp, is also an effective remedy against dandruff.
- Rinse immediately after swimming in chlorine- or otherwise-polluted water.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh, direct sunlight. Ultraviolet rays do the most damage, so avoid the hours they're most intense. Even in the shade, ultraviolet intensity can be 50% of that in bright sunlight, while sandy beaches can actually intensify UV exposure by 25% (100% in snow). Same on hazy or cloudy days, when 70-to-80% of UV rays reach the ground.
- A correlation has been drawn between excess stress and hair loss, even among modern teenagers, so do try to reduce stressors in your life, as much as possible. Using your wisdom in finding ways to manage stress is fundamental to acheiving better hair and skin vitality, not to mention the other psysiological, psychological and spiritual payoffs.
- With 50% of U.S. women now coloring their hair, manufacturers have perfected far-less-damaging products, although do avoid the hottest settings of hair-curlers, curling irons and hair-dryers, both to prevent hair damage, as well as avoid skin burning.
- Don't assume that ingesting more protein will stop or prevent hair loss.
- Instead, focus on appropriate exercise and on good (organic, whenever possible), balanced nutrition, including whole grains, nuts and seeds; fresh, raw fruits and vegetables (especially silicon-rich kelp, onions, nettle, comfrey and alfalfa); raw (unfertile, whenever possible) egg yolks once or twice a week, and if you still use milk, goat's rather than cow's, usually in the soured form--kefir, yogurt, etc.
- Also, try to be accepting of what Life has dealt you, genetically, understanding that even though all of the above can help with hair problems--especially those caused by nutritional deficiencies--all but 2% of male-pattern baldness, for instance, results from an overproduction of sex hormones which thickens the galea--the top sheet of scalp tissue--thus constricting the ability of blood capillaries to feed hair roots.
- "Always avoid the two conditions leading to illness--unwholesome diet and behavior--by means of mindfulness. Avoid harmful actions of the body, speech and mind, and devote yourself to what is right. Neither torment your senses of taste and so forth, nor overindulge in sensual pleasures."
Caring for Oily Hair - Is it too Big a Struggle ?
Top Tips For Your Oily Hair
If you have oily hair there are many things you can do to control the problem, from fixing your diet to working with your hair care regimen. Here are some of the top tips for fixing greasy, oily hair.Shampoo For Oily Hair
The best shampoo for oily hair is going to be a shampoo that is clear in color. The clearer the shampoo is, the less junk there is going to be in the shampoo to gum up you hair.Frequent Washing
One cure for oily hair is frequent washing, provided you are using the right shampoo. Also, leave the shampoo touching your scalp for around five minutes. This is one of the common causes of oily hair-not leaving the shampoo on long enough. You can wash your hair every single day and not damage it when you are dealing with oily hair.Avoid Conditioners
Conditioners are often not needed by those struggling with oily hair. If you have greasy hair, try skipping conditioner every other time you shampoo. If you need a conditioner for manageability, look for a conditioner that is low on oil, and remember that conditioning only the ends of your hair will often take care of the manageability issue, without adding oil to the scalp. Avoid putting conditioner near your scalp if you have oily hair.Proper Diet
The oil in your hair is secreted by your sebaceous glands on your scalp, the glands that are located at the base of each shaft of hair. When you eat a diet high in fatty foods, these glands will over produce the oil causing your hair to be oily. Those struggling with oil in their hair should avoid it in their diets.Expert Advice on How to Straighten Black Hair Naturally
Black hair straighteners and hair strengtheners can be fairly strong chemical applications used to soften the hair. This process is also known as relaxing, and in this process the basic curly structure of the hair is broken down and changed into a straight form.
Natural Ways to Straighten Black Hair
There are several natural ways to straighten black curly hair. These processes are less damaging on the hair, depending on the treatment, and the results can be possibly less long-lasting. Some examples of natural ways to straighten curly hair are:
Hot Oil Treatments
Hot oil treatments contain proteins and vitamins that are vital to maintain healthy hair, especially if the hair is handled and styled a lot. The oil conditions the hair and straightens it at the same time, resulting in glossy healthy looking hair.
The oil used for the treatment is heated and applied to the hair and scalp, after which the hair is covered with a plastic cap allowing the oil to settle on the hair. This method can help heal damaged black curly hair and leaves the hair straightened and shiny.
Blow Drying
For the best straightening result, wash the hair first and use a good conditioner. Comb the conditioner through to the hair ends and leave in for at least half an hour. Rinse the hair and comb it again, after which the hair is blow-dried with a blow dryer with a comb attachment. Working your way down from the scalp to hair ends gives the best results. This way to straighten hair naturally lasts till the next washing treatment.Straightening Brush
After the hair has been washed and treated with a (leave in) conditioner, the hair must be combed from the scalp down to the hair ends, possible adding a little oil or water to the hair in the process. As it takes a long time for naturally curly hair to dry, this technique can be used wile blow drying. It is important to use a boar hair brush, as synthetic bristle brushes can tear hair out and possible leave it damaged.Another way
Another way to straighten curly hair is to brush it through after conditioning and dividing the brushed hair into sections after which the hair is tightly curled around big hair rollers. After drying the hair can be brushed straight down.Artificial Ways to Straighten Black Hair
Artificial ways of hair straightening encompass all methods in which thermal aids (such as hair thongs) or chemicals are used to relax the hair. These methods are usually more damaging to the hair than natural methods, but the results will last longer with most chemical treatments. How to straighten hair depends on the specific procedure followed.Thermal Conditioning
In thermal conditioning a pre-conditioner is applied to the hair, to protect the hair from the following chemical procedure. Heat and chemicals combined relax hair (straighten it) and the result will stay. After the conditioning treatment a chemical hair relaxer is applied in stages with intervals of flat ironing of the treated hair. The procedure takes several hours and can cost between $500 and $1000. The procedure is irreversible and the effect will stay.Flat Iron Hair Conditioning
High-heat flat irons are applied to small section of dry hair. To condition the hair, conditioning sprays can be applied in between ironing. The effect lasts till the next time the hair is washed and will not keep very well in wet or humid weather as the hair will turn frizzy again when in touch with humidity. This treatment is suitable for short term straight hair styles.Vitamins boost hair growth
We all know that we can get strong and shiny hair by using the right shampoos and conditioners. Vitamins and minerals in hair care products are supposed to help repair and build healthy hair. According to Salonweb the way we eat and the products that we eat affect the condition and health of our hair greatly. The company has released a hair growth supplement onto the market. Secrets To Healthy Hair
Secrets To Maintaining Healthy Hair :
There are lots of secrets in maintaining healthy hair and some of them are as follows: LONG HAIR
Although many people believe long hair is more difficult to handle, in reality it is the most versatile of all hair styles. Tangling is a major issue and can be lessened by detangling before shampooing and by not piling the hair on top of the head and bunching it when wet. It is best to shampoo while showering and to work the shampoo down the length of the hair as if you were milking a cow. Always end with a cold water rinse to enhance the sheen of your hair.Concentrate conditioner at the ends of the hair to avoiding splitting and if possible, air dry. Any natural hair care methods will always be better than artificial ones like blow drying. If you have to blow dry, try to do so in shifts so that your hair does not get too hot which causes the hair to be brittle and to break more easily. Never brush you hair while it is wet and use only wide tooth combs.
If you would like your hair to fall in waves, braid it while it is still wet, then take it down when it is dry. Putting it up in a top knot while wet will create volume when the hair is released. Braids or pony tails are always useful in any situation where your hair can become tangled or caught in something. If your hair is down on a cold, windy day, put your hair inside your coat when going outside.
For special occasions braiding scarves or ribbons into your hair can create a touch of elegance and the pinned back chignon is always a classic touch as is a French braid. Make sure to have frequent small trim work even if you have to do it yourself to keep any split ends under control. If you trim your own split ends, do each hair individually. For this kind of self-care, it's a good idea to get a friend with long hair to do the trim for you and then you can return the favor.
SHORT HAIR
Short hair presents few problems in and of itself. There are of course issues with the quality of hair worn in any style (curly, fine, thick, frizzy, oily) which will be discussed below. The major consideration in short hair is to match the cut to the shape of your face. There are seven basic facial shapes: diamond, heart, oval, rectangle, round, square, and triangular. Not all facial shapes are compatible with all cuts. Diamond-shaped faces that are narrow at the forehead but wide at the cheeks with a small, pointy chin work best with cuts that add more fullness at the crown of the head to balance out the width of the cheeks.
Heart-shaped faces with their wide foreheads and small chins looks best when paired with a layered bob with lots of volume. Asymmetrical cuts also compliment this facial configuration. Oval faces are characterized by high foreheads and narrow but round chins. This is the most balance of all the facial shapes and works well with any cut.
Rectangular faces are long with high foreheads and defined jaws and chins. In general a chin-length or shoulder-length cut will be most effective to call attention away from the length of the face and to give an overall softening effect. Some fringe or bangs at the forehead also works well.
Round faces have wide foreheads and full jaws. Because the shape is similar to the oval, most styles will work but be sure to have fullness above the ears. The softer the cut and the more the layers come forward toward the face the better the style for this facial type. Asymmetrical cuts are also good.
The square face with its "lantern" jaw and wide forehead needs a graduated cut with lots of volume at the crown. Triangular faces, on the other hand, that are widest at the jaw and more narrow at the temple can actually accommodate most styles except those with volume at the top or crown of the head.
CURLY HAIR
Curly hair care can present many issues because this hair type is so susceptible to frizziness. Many people use the old method of lightly spritzing the hair with hair spray, allowing the product to dry, and then shaping the hair with either their fingers or a brush. Be careful about doing this too much, however. Hair spray contains alcohol and if your hair gets too dry the frizziness will only get worse.Always use a wide tooth comb and try to gently detangle your hair while it is wet. Never brush wet hair, however. It is best to allow the hair to drip dry. Beware of straightening products. Most contain harsh chemicals that will damage your hair over time and can lead to hair loss. If you feel you must straighten your hair use a steam straightening device set to the lowest temperature or go to a salon. Professional hair care products for straightening should cause less damage to your hair in the hands of a competent stylist.
FINE HAIR
With fine hair, the shorter the cut the better. Generally fine hair is very limp and cannot take the weight of a longer hair style. You should have the benefit of good sheen, however, so a short and relatively blunt style will give the illusion of volume. (Layering only makes fine hair thinner.)Don't do anything to make the hair brittle, which leads to breaking and split ends. Avoid the excessive heat of blow drying and curling irons. Read the labels of your hair care products and avoid harsh detergents like sodium lauryl sulfate. Minimize the use of hairsprays and gels that contain too much alcohol. These products will dry out the hair.
Don't over condition. This leads to chemical build-up. "Leave in" conditioners are especially bad in this regard. At least once a week shampoo with a product designed for cleansing the hair only. This will combat build up from conditioners, which leaves the hair even more limp and less manageable.
THICK HAIR
Coarse or thick hair has much more body and life and so has more versatility than fine hair. Avoid blunt cuts which make the hair look bushy. Try something layered. If your hair is thick and curly, cuts that accentuate the curl will in the long run present fewer problems with hair style and care. The greatest problem with thick hair is simply its tendency toward dryness. Avoid hair products that contain alcohol such as hair sprays and gels. If at all possible, air dry rather than using a curling iron and choose a mild shampoo to promote as much softness as possible, maybe even a baby shampoo.
FRIZZY HAIR
Although the problem of frizz is most often associated with curly hair, many people experience problems with frizz in the summer due to heat and humidity. Hair that is dry, drab, and brittle will also be frizzy. You should choose both a conditioner and a shampoo designed to moisturize. Choose products that say they will "replenish" over those that speak to "volumizing" or to creating "body." With frizz, moisturizing is everything.
Don't blow dry or use a curling iron. At night or on a weekend when you plan to stay in, apply jojoba oil to your hair, wrap it in plastic, and if possible leave it there through the night. Do not shampoo daily. Wear a hat when you are in the sun. Hair can sunburn just as seriously as the skin. Be religious about getting your hair trimmed every six to eight weeks.
OILY HAIR
With oily hair, on the other hand, you want to shampoo daily with a formula specifically for your hair type. Leave the lather in at least five minutes and repeat. Don't use a conditioner, especially not one of the "leave in" variety. You may also apply a mild astringent to the scalp such as witch hazel. When you brush or comb your hair try not to touch the scalp. The old method of brushing hair with one hundred strokes a day is actually a technique to spread and distribute hair's natural oils. With oily hair that's the last thing you want to do. Bush and comb as briefly and as infrequently as possible.

Is Baldness Hereditary
Is Baldness Hereditary
The answer to the above query is definitely positive. Yes, baldness is hereditary. However, one should know that only the male pattern baldness is hereditary. Here we will see more on the male pattern baldness. In males, baldness of hair is usually in M shape, as it begins at the temple and recedes back towards the middle of the head. After a few years, in more advanced stage, it is observed that only hair in the side and back of the head remain. Genetics and hormones are the significant and most common causes of baldness in people. A specific genetic composition gives rise to early baldness in people. In earlier times (even today in some parts of the world), it is believed that the genes for baldness are inherited only from the mother's side. i.e., if a person's maternal grandfather is bald, the person is sure to go bald at an early age. This theory is incorrect. Studies and researches have proved that genes of early baldness can be inherited from both, one's father as well as mother.
In case of women, hereditary baldness is hardly observed. It is also true that complete baldness is unusual in women, even in old age. On the other hand, the pattern of balding in women is not specific. Female hair loss is widespread and proportioned and hence, we hardly find a woman who is completely bald. In order to diagnose whether the baldness caused is hereditary or not, the doctor will require the history of the person and necessary information on early baldness instances in other family members. Apart from heredity, there are several other potential causes of baldness in men and women. Let us take a look at it in detail.
Other Causes of Baldness
Alopecia areata is one of the major causes if baldness in both, men and women. It is a skin disease where bald patches appear on the head, usually on the top of the head. However, in this disease, it is possible for hair to regrow if proper medications are taken. On the other hand, hormonal imbalance, stress, use of certain hair lotions and cosmetics, frequent hair styling, etc. also lead to premature hair loss. Certain illnesses, skin diseases like ringworm, etc. can also cause abnormal hair loss in people. One should remember that improper diet and nutritional deficiency also contributes in causing hair loss and complete baldness over time.
One should note that baldness caused due to all of the aforementioned factors can be treated or even prevented. But there is no treatment or prevention for baldness caused due to hereditary factors. One may come across several products in the market that claim to cure baldness and help in regrowth of hair. However, most of these products do not succeed in their claims. Hair transplant is one of the best hair loss solutions which helps in regrowing hair and is expensive, yet effective.
What Vitamins Should a Man Losing Hair Be Taking?
The main type of hair loss that both men and women experience is pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia. Within this condition, the hair growth duration is shortened and the hair follicle becomes more superficial and hair more easily can fall out. While there are synthetic medications available that treat pattern hair loss in men and women, natural remedies are commonly used to promote hair growth and stronger hair follicles.
Hair Grafting
Fortunately several techniques and medicines are available which help in hair growth. But if the hair loss is severe, and one doesn't want to go bald, one can opt from many hair replacement surgeries. Hair graft is one of the many hair replacement treatments available today. Hair grafting is a procedure which includes placing and planting natural or synthetic human hair in roots of existing, healthy hair on the scalp, hence giving an appearance of a thick hair growth. This procedure is suitable for individuals who have a problem of thinning hair. One need not go to a hospital for carrying out this treatment, as it can also be done in modern hair salons. This treatment has come a long way from the time it was first discovered.
Hair grafting procedure is not suitable for all individuals who suffer from hair loss. It is most appropriate and effective for people whose scalp still contains areas which have a little hair. Hair grafting involves a hair donor and a hair recipient, wherein, in most cases, the person who is the donor is also the recipient. If a person whose hair is to be grafted, has some healthy hair on his scalp, such strands of hair are planted in the roots which don't have hairs. When hair replacement surgeries were discovered, this treatment was carried out as punch grafts, which involved transplanting a group of hairs together on an area on the scalp.
The hair grafting methods which are modified now don't use many strands of hair, to give a more natural effect. Follicular unit hair transplantation and micrografting are some methods wherein not many hair strands are utilized. In these procedures, the grafts may be as small and tiny as an individual strand of hair. However, to fill in and cover an area on the scalp, many such grafts would be needed. In some cases, surgeons use grafts of different sizes to create an appearance of the hair growing naturally on the scalp. In order to carry out this process, they make surgical incisions with a laser and sometimes even with a scalpel.
The expenses for undergoing hair grafting are very high. Moreover, the expenses are not generally covered up by insurance. The price may differ from $ 3 - $ 10 for a single graft, so the total expenditure would be around several thousand dollars, going upto even $ 20,000 depending on the area which is covered. The hair transplantation treatments have some risks and side effects too, such as infections, swelling and pocking. There are even no assurances given that one will like the final look after the treatment. The end results strongly depend on the type of hair the person has, like, silky or curly.
If you are thinking of undergoing this treatment, ensure that you've completely inquired about the cosmetic surgeon, his professional experience in this specific area of hair transplantation and whether he / she is authorized and certified to perform this kind of surgery.

Dry Hair
Dry hair happens due to dormant oil glands. Few other causes of dry hair are factors like over exposure to the sun, using a harsh shampoo and applying chemical treatment. Congregated oil help in blocking the pores, not allowing the oil to flow on to the surface. This happens to be another reason for dry hair. Dry hair requires plenty of sustenance.
Try massaging well with a warm herbal oil at least two times a week. Meticulously follow a diet rich in zinc. Try using a mild shampoo and stay away from harsh ones as the chemicals in them can strip hair of its outer protein layer, further drying out the scalp. Also try and avoid using electric curlers and hair dryers.
Oily Hair
Oily hair is normally accompanied with oily skin. It happens due to the over secretion of oil. Therefore the scalp and hair – both gets too oily. One can easily recognise oily hair as it appears greasy even after shampooing and and is prone to attracting more dirt. The oily hair compulsorily needs to be washed every third or fourth day or even more often depending on individual comfort and it should be rinsed out with lemon. One should use oils and shampoos which has rich content of neem and henna. A head massage with a herbal oil helps maintaining the pH level of the scalp. Try avoiding oily foods and binge on green leafy vegetables and fruits.
Balanced or Normal Hair
This happens to be the most ideal hair. It gives a shining look, is well balanced and does not dry out. To let this ideal condition remain a well balanced diet and proper care is mandatory. Many people have little hint about the terms used to describe hair, and truth be told, it can be confusing at times. Most people think of hair in terms of being thick or fine, and curly or straight. There are various considerations when analysing hair: texture, density, wave pattern, elasticity and porosity. Each of these elements couples up together to give us endless variety in hair types. Your stylist is trained to look at your hair, recognize these elements, and estimate your overall hair type.
One thing to remember is that analysing the hair is a matter of comparability, and the best way to learn is to recognise the difference in these elements and to view a sampling of hair from different sources and make the comparisons yourself. The next time you're with a group of friends, take a close look at their hair. Make a note of the ways their hair differs from yours. Compare their hair to yours using these categories:
- Texture
- Density
- Porosity
- Elasticity
- Wave Pattern
Seven Hair Myths, Busted -- Smart tips for beautiful hair
When it comes to hair, there are tried-and-true tips and there are myths—some of which are circulated by hairstylists who ought to know better. Taaz gets to the root of some of the most common quandaries. Try on hairstyles in our virtual hairstyle studio.
Myth 1: Hair becomes immune to shampoo over time.
Truth: There’s no scientific evidence to back this claim, but there is proof that styling products can build up and alter the effectiveness of your regular shampoo and conditioner. Bear in mind that the water supply where you live, as well as coloring or perming treatments, can cause your hair to behave inconsistently. To eliminate reside, use a clarifying treatment once every two weeks.
Myth 2: Lemon juice will turn your hair blonde.
Truth: Squeezing lemon juice onto your strands and sitting in the sun for prolonged periods is said to lighten your locks. Chances are, however, that you won’t see any obvious changes. Another drawback? Dryness. If you want to bring out your natural highlights without dye, consider a color-depositing shampoo.
Myth 3: Hair requires daily washing.
Truth: The best treatment for hair (especially dry hair) is its own oil, so wash it less often. Different types of hair have different needs, so the key to maintenance is using products created for your type and condition. While people with dry hair can skip a day or two of shampooing, oilier hair often requires a daily lather to keep up appearances. No matter what your schedule, find a formulation that suits your mane. Cutting back on buildup, caused by constant touching or heavy styling products, will allow you to go longer between shampoos.
Myth 4: If you pluck one gray hair, three will sprout in its place.
Truth: Some women are quick to yank a gray hair; others leave it be for fear multiples will grow in its place. It takes three months for a new hair to rear its head and another three for it to grow to a noticeable length. If more grays happen to pop up during this six-month span, they may be attributed to time or stress, not plucking. Regardless, yanking is a harmful habit that can damage the follicle and break other hairs (especially if you use tweezers), so resist the urge.
Myth 5: Mayonnaise doubles as hair conditioner.
Truth: In addition to its pungent scent, mayonnaise can make the hair look and feel greasy and tangled. Its ingredients—vegetable oil, eggs and vinegar—will weigh down your hair in the worst way. Looking for a moisture boost? Use a heavy-duty treatment that’s specifically made for use on your hair.
Myth 6: Hair grows faster and thicker if you indulge in regular trims.
Truth: Oh, how we wish this was true! A cut can certainly make fine hair appear fuller, but it does not change the fact that hair grows about half an inch every month. Your best bet for scoring luscious locks is to eat plenty of protein-rich fish, lean meat and eggs and to treat it like silk. Keep breakage at bay with by brushing gently and cutting back on the use of heated styling tools.
Myth 7: Split ends can be meded.
Truth: Contrary to the claims of many reparative conditioning products (which seal ends only temporarily), the only real cure for split ends is to nip them off with scissors. Otherwise, they will continue to run like a nylon stocking nightmare.

How to Get A Shiny Hair
To get shiny hair, wash your hair every second or third day and use a brush with natural boar bristles to redistribute the natural oils from your scalp from root to tip. Not only are natural boar bristles less likely to break or damage your hair, they make it appear smoother with less flyaways.
If you simply must wash your hair every day to keep up appearances, try conditioning it first, steering clear of the roots, and follow with a bit of shampoo without rinsing in between. Rinse in one swoop with cold water to close the hair’s cuticle. Blow drying with cold air has a similar effect and is healthier than hot air overall. And ionic dryers are believed to impart more shine and less frizzies thanks to negative ions, which smooth the hair’s cuticle.
To get your hair to shine to its full potential, avoid alcohol-based products (especially mousses) and climates where there is a lot of pollution or humidity. If you are using an alcohol-based shine serum, your shine-boosting efforts are ultimately wasted since it dries out the hair. Opt for a silicone-based smoothing serum or spray to seal the hair’s cuticle and reduce heat damage.

Daily Hair Care Tips for Healthy Hair
Head the crown of the body, if not covered by beautiful thick hair spoils the entire look of a person. So looking after hair or hair care is as important as looking after any other part of the body. Today hair are affected by many factors as environment, pollution, harmful chemicals, lack of proper diet, stress, harmful UV Rays, lack of sleep etc. so even if one gets naturally beautiful hair, one needs to care more about them to maintain them.
As one keeps a daily routine to clean the body, hair too should be cleaned the same way. Longer the hair more care they require. As dust and dirt sticks on hair they require more care when it comes to cleaning and it should be in one's daily routine. Like skin hair too is different type as normal, dry and oily and as the skin has different complexion, hair have different texture as straight, curly or wavy. Some people have silky or some have dry coarse hair. Many people suffer from dandruff or premature graying of the hair.
So depending on the hair type and keeping in mind the hair problems one suffers, one should maintain their hair care.
First of all eating healthy nutritional food rich of iron and protein is must for healthy hair. A balanced diet is good and must for the entire body. While looking after hair one should remember if one uses chemicals on hair in any form as coloring, straightening or getting hair curly which is called perming. Such hair requires advanced care.
One should wash hair properly with a good shampoo, which is their hair type as for dry hair a shampoo that is specially made for dry hair should be used. Then rather then drying hair through hair dryer, one should let them dry naturally. If hair is dry and unmanageable, one should always apply a good conditioner on hair and then coat hair with hair serum. Wash the hair thoroughly; no traces of shampoo or conditioner should be left on the hair or scalp. Should not rub hair hard with towel, it damages the texture though should wipe them gently.
Should never brush wet hair as hair are their weakest when wet so one can use a wide tooth comb to detangle the wet hair and brush them when they are dry.
Do not tie hair very tied as it weakens them. And many people use gel and mousse to set hair on daily basis. They should use such things once in a while occasionally. And whenever they are applied on hair to give a style, they should be washed immediately after coming back home, the same way we remove make up.
One should wear a scarf when on hair while going out in sun or in wind as they damage the hair and make them look dull and brittle.
Should get the hair trim once in a month otherwise one gets split ends. Trimming hair gives them a finishing look and helps them grow.
Oil massage is very useful for the hair. It improves the blood circulation and helps the hair grow so it should be done at least once in a weak. Oil should be left on the scalp overnight and hair should be shampooed the next morning.
One can make or purchase readymade homemade hair packs from the market to apply on hair once in a fortnight.
Hair masks too should be applied depending on the hair type. As egg is good for dry hair and lemon for oily scalp.
Lemon can be used for hair with dandruff too. If one doesn't find it convinient to make hair packs at home one can buy them from the market, but should remember the hair type while buying a hair pack.
Coconut and olive oil are very good to use for hair massage but if one wants one can even mix them in equal proportion and use. A mixture of olive oil and castor oil is very useful for dry, falling hair.
If one is seriously suffering from hair fall or dandruff, one needs medial treatment. As dandruff can cause major problems to the hair, scalp and the on overall skin as people tend to get pimples and acne on face, back or overall body due to dandruff. So it should not be ignored and oil, shampoos made for dandruff hair should be applied.
Falling approximately 100 hairs is normal to a person but if the hair fall is more than that, then one should see a dermatologist. who will find out the cause of hair fall and will tell a cure for it.
When going to bed one should leave the hair loose and open, as tied hair are tend to break more and become weak. So if taken proper care with healthy diet one if cannot stop the harm to the hair completely due to UV RAYS, pollution or harmful chemicals, one should at least prevent them for the time being
Scalp Massage
Massaging Tips:
- Take oil and start from the forehead hairline along the arteries in the front, side, and back of the head, making small circles with your fingertips.
- Work your way toward the top of the head as if drawing a circle.
- Massage your hair/scalp for just ten minutes a day: once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Do not give up after a few days. Make it a habit! You can also massage your scalp when shampooing your hair.
- Remember massage your scalp with your fingertips and not your nails.
- Avoid excessive brushing because not only does brushing too much, damage your hair because it scrapes away your hair cuticle but it also makes you oily hair more oily and dry hair more brittle.
Making Your Hair Color Last
Once you have got your hair coloured with your desired shade, the next thing that you want is to make the colour last for as long as possible. There are several things you can do to maximize the life of your newly colored locks and keep it looking gorgeous and vibrant as long as possible.
Listed below are several techniques for making your hair colour last::
- Select the hair coloring product that is most compatible with your life style. If you don't have time to redo your roots every 3-4 weeks, you may want to select a hair color shade that is only 1-3 shades lighter than your natural color. The closer you go to your natural hair color, the less your roots will show as they grow out. When your roots are less obvious, your hair color will last longer before you have to touch up your roots. Always select the type of coloring product that is easiest for you to maintain.
- Apply a deep conditioning treatment to your hair a few days before coloring. The better conditioned your hair is, the easier the color will take and the longer it will last.
- Color hair that has not been washed for one day. The natural hair oils will assist in making the hair color application more successful. The color will cling better to hair that is not dry.
- Use a color enhancing shampoo between applications to enhance and maintain the color. The color shampoos will help you keep your color looking good until it is time for the next application. If you don't wish to use a color enhancing shampoo then at least use the most gentle shampoo that you can.
- Avoid exposing your colored hair to the sun or chlorine in swimming pools. The sun may fade your hair color and the chlorine may damage the color. In some severe cases, if you have colored your hair a very light color the chlorine may leave a green tinge to your hair.
- Use layered colors to prevent an overall faded color look. The advantage to applying layered colors would be to have complimentary shades of darker and lighter colors which would reflect the light and give the color a multidimensional look.
Healthy Hair Care Tips
Maintaining healthy hair is a matter of treating it like pure silk (and it never hurts to sleep on a satin pillowcase for total smoothness). Follow these tips for shampooing, blow drying and general care for ultra healthy hair, or try on shiny, lustrous hairstyles in our virtual styling studio.
Daily Hair Care Tips
For healthy hair, shampoo it every other day (or even every third day) with a gentle cleanser that's designed for color treated hair if needed. Hair is fibrous, like cotton. If you wash a cotton T-shirt every day, it will fade and become ratty. The same goes for your precious locks.
Prior to shampooing , while still dry, run a paddle brush through your hair 20 times from root to tip, stroking it in all different directions and paying special attention to the scalp (this stimulates hair growth and blood flow and relieves flaking or itching).
Always comb your hair (don't brush it) when wet, use a gentle detangling motion and wear soft rubber bands that won't snag. Even in a pinch, never use the rubber band that's tied around your daily newspaper subscription since it causes serious breakage. Horrors!
When you emerge from the shower, don’t wrap your hair in a towel/turban for more than 5 minutes. The towel/turban will draw out moisture, opening your freshly conditioned, closed hair cuticle and creating a “rough” or frizzy look Your hair will not be able to dry totally smooth and it can appear dull and frizzy.
After towel drying your hair, use a paper towel to blot or wring out your hair again. This additional step pulls out moisture without roughing up the cuticle and ensures that the hair will dry faster—with less heat and increased strength and shine.
Prior to blow drying your hair, apply three small drops (use less for short hair) of detangling serum to keep the cuticle closed. Rub the serum in the palm of your hands and apply in downward strokes from mid-shaft to ends (do not apply it to your scalp). Apply two more small drops when the hair is almost dry or before using a flat iron. Finish with one more drop, applied in a downward motion from mid-shaft to ends, to add shine when you’re finished blow drying.
