When you notice some hair loss you start looking for thinning hair solutions. Thinning Hair normally affects people when they reach certain ages though it affects only a certain percentage of people with the problem being widespread in males than females. With females this is a big deal as normally many women are conscious of their looks and image.

There are several causes of thinning hair one being hereditary where one would have gotten hair loss genes from either the paternal or maternal side, the other reason is by the use of medication especially in cases like chemotherapy. One should also take note of the chemicals that are used to treat hair as eventually the effects pile up and later leads to hair loss pulling and stretching of the hair can also lead to hair thinning.
How then can one deal with thinning hair? There are several solutions with some claiming to reverse the condition. In most cases this has been found out not to be true as it has not been actually proven that this can be done. In cases where the hair thinning is not much or is just a patch it is easy to comb or style your hair in such a way as to cover up the area. If done effectively only people who are in close contact with you would tell of the condition. The problem with this is that it is only a temporary solution as the hair can easily be undone by wind and some heavy activity thereby exposing the area again.

Using hairpieces is also one the thinning hair solutions available to you. The hairpieces are in forms of wigs which you wear to cover the hair and fitting it by using a headband to keep it in place, there are also special wigs which are a bit pricey made from human hair and they are sewn together with real hair to cover the patchy area and these have to be done at least a month. These are also temporary solutions and not ideal for those who would like to show off their hair natural hair.

The commonly known medications for treatment of hair thinning are Propecia and Minoxidil, these have been clinically proven and approved by the FDA. As with most drugs there are side effects associated with the drugs in particular Propecia which may lead to impotence. Propecia does not require prescription and can be obtained over the counter whereas Minoxidil requires prescription from a doctor. When you start taking these drugs it is a daily regimen and the drugs have to be taken for life, normally some people grow tired of this and stop taking the drugs altogether. These are good hair solutions when you discover early on that you are losing some hair because they tend to stop the hair loss process and will help you to keep your remaining hair.
